Does RX330 have a subwoofer? Or can you add one?
alas, i'm not willing to wait on custom-ordering an RX with the Mark Lev. however, i'm so used to having a high-end system on my GS that i fear i will be disappointed in the stock RX audio system.
Q: does it have a subwoofer?
if not, can we add one? by that i mean, can i TAKE it to an after-market professional and have THEM add one without tearing up the insides? anybody recommend something rea$onable? not so interested in raw power as i am quality of sound.
gracias...

I'd be surprised if the stock system didn't have a subwoofer somewhere. My '02 RX only had one base sound system available and it has a subwoofer under the passenger seat. Not as great sounding as the M/L in our GX470, but still pretty decent for a base system.

No sub in the ML either. 11 spkrs with 6X9 Longthrows providing most of the bass. I do recall a previous thread of other RX owners talking about adding a sub in the cargo area. Can probably find it if you look back about 5-6 months ago.

I just got my sub
I had a sub box built to fit behind the back seat with matching grey carpet, I put the amp on a board and put it in the storage area with the tire jack. The system sounds soooo much better.

All you did was add the sub w/amp? The quality of the rest of the speakers was fine for you? Just wondering b/c if/when I finally get one, I may want to add a sub. Just curious if the rest of the sound other than bass sounded fine from the factory speakers.

sub
The sub just added that low end that was missing (around 20k~) The system sounds full range now, I do need to get a better crossover, some mids are coming through the sub. I have put it a gain control up front so it is easily adjustable since I listen to dance/hip hop/jazz and R&B music.
IMHO it sounds as good if not better than the ML that I heard.
My box is easily removed for the extra cargo space when needed, it weighs about 50 pounds, the back of the box is shaped to accommodate the back seats fully reclined.

Thanks. It would have to sound better than the ML with the subwoofer in there .... I still don't understand why they don't do that with the RX 330! I'd think it'd almost be better to save your $1400-1600 for the ML and add the sub yourself.
I had a major system in my Jeep Wrangler a while back ... nothing like some good bass to spice everything up!

The 2005 RX does not have a factory subwoofer. I have 4 8" RF subs custom mounted in the forward hatch space, with the aftermarket amplifiers mounted underneath the rear hatch space. I wanted to keep the system looking stock and have the entire hatch area open. The only space that I lost was the storage and jack areas under the carpeted panels.
The entire sound system was changed to an Alpine audio/ video/ navigation system. Soooo much better than stock!
