Default Is this a good price for '04 RX330 (Update: Got '05 RX)

Hello all,

I have a GS400 and planning to get my parents a RX330. We saw a new '04 RX330 (30 miles on odo.) at dealership with basically all the options:

1. 4-WD
2. Navigation - Back up camera
3. DVD
4. Mark Levinson
5. Head light wipers

Lowest dealer would go was $44,3xx. Is this a good deal considering it's an '04 model? Any input is appreciated. I am located in S. CA

Thanks.

Edit: That price is Out the Door price.

How much of that "out the door" price is tax, title, etc?
If it's $3000 - $4000, you're probably doing OK. If it's more, you're doing well.

If not, then you need to analyze what they're actually charging for the car.
I think that sticker price on that car is around $46,500, so that means invoice is around $41,000.

Navigation was a bit rare in '04, and even fewer units had the DVD rear-seat entertainment system (RSES). That said, many people posted that they got the dealer down to $1500-$2000 above invoice on a car with navigation back in July and August.

Now it's November and given that it's an '04 model, you should be able to get a lot closer to invoice, if not below it. As soon as you drive it off the lot, it will be worth about 20% less!

You can use either Edmunds (http://www.edmunds.com) or Kelley Blue Book (http://www.kbb.com) to get the exact invoice price for the car you're looking at.

Thanks for the response. The numbers you gave are pretty close to what we received.

Roughly, tax/title is around $3500, subtracting this from the OTD price...we're looking at getting the car for $40,800. Which is $200 below invoice.

I also priced it out on KBB and it shows that the invoice with above options should be 39,083.00? So, don't know which one to go with.

Another thing of note is that this car has been in their inventory for 67 days, so I would expect that they would be more willing to deal.

Oh well, the search continues.

I would offer only $37,500, or simply get a 2005 model.

Though the RX holds its value well, remember the first-year depreciation the steepest. The discount must be at least match the expected depreciation for a one-year old vehicle.
