Default Possible HKS Exhaust offering for RX330

HKS offers a rear muffler system for the '04 Harrier in Japan. I just wanted to gauge some interest, if any, for that system. If so, then it might justify HKS USA to bring a test fit unit over for confirmation of fitment (JDM bumpers are often shorter than US spec bumpers due to the lack of 5mph reinforcements - which may affect where the tip sits in relation to the edge of the bumper)

I dont have pics of the system, but it is part of thier Legamax Premium series mufflers:

It is a SUS304 stainless steel system with 115mm rolled edge tip. Exhaust note should be moderately deeper and more audiable. MSRP would probably be about $560.

Just post any commonts, concerns, etc....any feedback is appreciated. Again, remember this is just to gauge interest and get feedback ....

Thanks

Will

I have HKS Super Dragger II on my Acura TL. Love the sound but performance gain is minimal. If I own a RX330, I would go for catback or a cold air intake (not short ram) from HKS.

I would be interested but how loud is this particular exhaust? For me, I would be all over it but the RX330 is actually my wifes car. I'm building it up to enter car shows, and was probably just going to put a nice tip on for the looks and so my wife doesn't get annoyed when she drives it, but I personally would rather have the full catback or even mufflers provided it is not that much louder. A nice deeper tone is good though.

TunedRX300,

Let me know how that new catback system works. I was going to go for one, but there is a huge resonator behind the cat which one of my U.S. Lexus friends said made such a horrible sound when removed it he ended up having to put it back on.

I am still waiting for it from Steetdemand.com. Japanese exhaust has to comply with Japanese noise control standard, at cruising speed, should not be loud but the sound is deep at lower speed

I would get one for sure, providing it sounded good. I do not want an exhaust that would be overly loud at highway cruising speeds ... mainly because I travel a lot.

The 5 mph reinforcement only apply to passenger cars. SUVs, pickups, and minivans are exempt. So ironically the tough-looking SUVs may not be as tough as a Toyota Corolla in parking lot collision.

That said, I am not aware of any difference in JDM bumpers vs. US bumpers.

Thanks for that bit of info. With that being said, I may just bringin one sample unit to do testing on sound and power. Sound should be pretty mellow and on the deeper side.

A cat-back will probably not be offered...for a few reasons. The system is already being offered as a rear muffler only application and any addition cost to design it as a cat back will probably not offer performance gains to justify the addition cost. (We have had situations like this in the past)

Thanks again everyone, and please keep it coming....

Not to discourage your bring HKS but Harrier's 5zigen stainless steel catback only cost me $400. HKS is offering an axle-back for >$500, given it is for RX330 not RX300, but you want to price it competitvely or add additional value to justify higher price.

Thanks for the input...but there are a few things to note...as you mentioned, RX300 vs RX330 they are two different systems. $560 is the MSRP, not the typical street price.

oh and how can you compare HKS to 5zigen??? hahaha JK

I think both are great.
I like Japanese exhaust over US because they are not loud but give you a nice sound at lower speeds.
