My RX400h is here, I'm scared!
I was #7 on my dealer's waiting list, and they called today and said it is here! I was hoping it would take longer so I could hear from other forum members about their driving experiences before having to plunk down the money! Anyone with any words of wisdom? I am supposed to pick it up on Sunday

I drove one today for the first time. It is really wierd. I was waitning to pull out into traffic and the motor shut off, I was like..... OK. Wierd feeling. I also think it is rediculously fast, for what it is.. Me and the other guys at work agree that it is faster than the 330. Accually got the tires to chirp. Nice vehicle, but takes some getting used to.

I drove a few of them this week and I love it. You have to get use to it and don't pay to much attention on the " Consumption" screen..
When you first start up the car you can't tell the car is running. You will have to look at the cluster, it will say " Ready". That's mean you're ready to go, just put her in Drive and go. At the stop light the engine is completely shut off and the electric AC compressor still running( power by Hybrid battery) you can hear the air coming from the AC vents( so quiet).
When you press the " Fuel Door" buttom. The display on the cluster will tell you " Please wait", so the system can correct the gas fume to the charcoal canister without release those harmful chemicals into the asmoshpere. After 15 seconds, the gas door will opened...cool. The way I did, I pressed the fuel door opener, got out of the vehicle and wait for about 10 seconds. After 10 seconds went by, I started to talke to the fuel door and the fuel door opened by itself. The guy that filled up his car next to me freaking out and WTF... It was funny as heck to see the look on his face when I talked to the fuel door and the fuel door really opened.
If you floor it. The KW gauge will held at 200 KW all the way without any shift point. You may think that the transmission is stuck on first gear at 90 mph without shifting...lol. It's a fast SUV with a lot of TQ from electric motor.

BS, congratulations!
like scooter said, the hybrid technology takes some time to get used to, but imho, it's addictive! i had the pleasure of driving a prius for a few days a couple months ago, and initially i was like WTF, it's so weird - super quiet and then essentially "off" at traffic lights. but after i gave it back (it was a hertz car rental ), i was really missing it. the toyota hybrid system is great and provides a zippy ride; the 400h is going to be an awesome seller.

So we'll see if it is even there when I go in for a test drive, and then whether my wife is willing to part with her 1996 Camry to take on new debt and a much bigger ride!
