Can go 25K or 1 year with Amsoil. 35K with one of their oils.
Change the oil filter at 6 months. Have done this since the late 80's with never a engine problem. I have, in the past sent in oil samples to be tested and always OK. Even tells u how your air filter is doing.

Manual says 5K in "severe" service (taxis and the like) - 7.5K in normal service. I have it changed at about 5K as cheap insurance. Ask anyone who tells you their oil is good for 10K to 25K or more if they'll warranty your engine (Lexus won't).

I have been told that with proper testing of the lube the warrenty is in effect as long as the test proves the lube to be OK. This is how the big rigs can go so long on their oil, TESTING of it.
I have been using synthetics since the late 70's and never a engine problem but I do monitor it closely.

You asked for advice on the frequency; given... Five thousand miles.
If you don't want to change the oil but every fifteen thousand mile, fine.
It's your engine; It is your privilege to damage it, if you like.
Synthetic oil type adding horsepower is a dream and marketing scam.
You can not compare the German examples that are designed for long oil changes.
These are designed to run only synthetic.
The RX V6 is designed to run natural lubricants ... plain and simple

Probably best to ask your dealer. Most dealers will switch your RX over to synthetic, so they should be able to give you a recommendation. However, you should be able to safely go more than 5K miles on synthetic oil.
