Power rear hatch
Is it possible at all to enable the power rear hatch to open WITHOUT having to press the door unlook button on the key fob twice (without setting all doors to open with one press of course)?
Me and a technican played around with the handheld tester, but did not find an option for it.
1) Is the handheld tester the only tool they have, or is there a larger tool where the option might be present.
And as an interesting sidenote, it appears that all the systems in the RX330 use the CAN bus (controller area network) -- why is there no aftermarket diagnostics tool then for Lexus as Volkswagen and Audi have VAG-COM, it seems to me if all the controllers are indeed talking CAN, it would not be too hard to implement.

The door has to be unlocked before it can be opened. The computer ignores the wireless remote and the button on the dash unless the door is unlocked.
Through C-BEST settings, now called Lexus Personalized Settings, you can make a couple of changes. The tech would use that handheld tester to make the changes.
You can make all of the doors open with one press of the "Unlock" button on the remote by changing a parameter called "UNLOCK/2 OPER". When ON, the default, pressing Unlock once unlocks just the driver's door, and a second press unlocks the other doors. If you change that to OFF, then all doors unlock on the first press.
For the power back door, you can change how those buttons behave as well. A setting called "WIRELS PBD OPER" has 4 choices. The default, "0.8 PR", opens the door after you press and hold the button on the remote 0.8 seconds. The other choices are "1 TIME" (a single press of the button), "2 TIMES" (press it twice), and "OFF" (disable).
The power back door button on the dash is similarly controlled with "PBD SW OPER", with a default setting of "0.8s" (press and hold) and an alternate choice of "0.0s" (simple press).
