I had the latest ecu update applied last week. Wanted to wait a week to see if any changes were consistent. This update most assuredly has improved the shifting characteristics of the car. Not perfect, but a huge improvement. Mine is a 2004 RX330, one of the early ones. I had the inital fix done, and it helped somewhat over the way the car was delivered, but nothing to write home about.

Also, the early models had a pronounced 'clunk' when shifting at low speeds. They told me then that this was normal. On the trip last week, I brought a copy of the TSR, and they could no longer ignore my complaint. They had to keep the car, and order some parts; something to do with some rubber bushings in the transmission cooler, believe it or not. The clunk is now gone, after putting up with it for 2 years.

By the way the service writer told me on this trip that since they had already updated the program for the transmission shifting a year ago, they could not do it again. That this was a one time only upgrade. I had to raise my voice and ask for the service tech, who agreed with me, and who applied the upgrade.
What a poor set of experiences to have with my first Lexus. My Last Lexus, too.

A little improvement for me, Meade Lexus did the work. did a nice job, picked up my car that was on E, and got it back clean washed and 1/4 tank of gas.

I think it takes a while for it to re-learn though..

Hey, I also have an RX330 from Meade Lexus. I have 34,000 miles on it, and lately the car does some jerking and does not respond very well to the acceleration pedal and theres a huge lag sometimes. Do you think I should take it in, and what should I tell them before they do anything? Is it under warranty?? My car was peforming great for the last 1 and half years till Meade serviced my car back in May, the car is acting strange and the car pulls to left even though Meade told me that they did the alignment. I am partially upset that meade did not do my alignment properly and they BEtter NOT Charge me for the alignment also.

I had an allignment issue too, and Meade took care of it, took a bit of arguing about it should be under warranty, but in the end they did it. Talk to Danielle in the service dept, she seems pretty nice, I would get the TSB fix for the transmission done, just ask for her and say you need the TSB for the trans update from May, she will know what you are talking about.

Let me know how it works

At 34K miles, have you had your transmission fluid drained and filled, meaning serviced? Is it a nice cherry red color or a little darker?

My 330 has been in the service dept for 2 days now going on 3. Apparently the computer in the 330 and the computer in the service dept had trouble "communicating" w/ each other. It's some sort of update that takes a couple hours I guess.

Thanks a lot to all CL members who share info on recalls, TSB's, etc. If it weren't for you guys, many of my 330's issues probably wouldn't get fixed!

I do miss my 330... A LOT. But the ES loaner is okay.

Okay, finally got my baby back (so glad to be out of the ES!?!).

So far, the shifting has improved 100%. The lag is gone as well as the jerking. The tranny shifts faster than before.

FYI for anyone having problems, here's what my invoice reads:

POOR PROGRAMMING TSB-TC005-03
TC3001 ECM CALIBRATION: SHIFTING ENHANCEMENT
7800 WL3
FC: 26/99
PART#: 89661-48470

Yes, the latest version of that software (May 05) applies to the 2005 model year as well as 2004.

I'm getting the fix done to my 2005 RX330 next Thursday, let's hope it works. Apparently, it is for all 2005 models.

I'm getting it done on Friday ... the service guy said he didn't know anything about it ... supposedly it's "re-calibrating" something or other

Also wanted to have the headlights raised a little, but he said it "couldn't be done" ... which I know isn't true.

Keep us posted! I just called my local Lexus dealer and the service manager didn't have a clue. He had to go ask the technician. The Tech guy said yes that TSB-TC005-03 is correct. (Tranny Hesitation). I will hold off a bit longer till' I hear from you all.

Wow, didn't know this tranny issue was also for '05's...

The fix has been sweet so far! NO HESITATION!
