2004 Enter Destinations While Driving w/o mods or splicing
I saw the other posts on how to get to the system menu on the newer nav systems and turn on the override that lets you enter nav destinations while moving. After playing around with my nav system on my 2004 RX330, I figured out how to do the same thing. Press the menu button, then choose DVD button. Then press the top left of the screen, then the bottom left of the screen, then the top left again, then the bottom left again, then finally touch the bottom right of the screen. It will bring up the same system menu. Press and hold the override button for about 3 seconds until it turns green, then hit back. If you do this while moving, you won't be able to edit until you stop the first time. If you are stopped when you do this, then you can continue to edit while moving.
You MUST do this everytime you start your car. HAVE FUN PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awesome tip!
Not only is it a way to do the override thing, but it also gives you real-time access to the GPS status without deactivating the stereo. (The diagnostic menu kills the stereo, and you can only exit the diagnostic menu by turning off the key.)

THANK YOU!
i knew there must be a way after seeing the 06 GS with it, and then someone with an 01 GS posted a similar procedure. can't wait to try it! thanks again. (i think this should work in my SC also, the nav system is same generation, but more updated map)

Thanks for the reply! The next question I have is if there is any way to enter phone numbers or access the phone book while driving. Despite initiating the "override" feature, that part of the telephone functionality is still blocked.
Thanks,
Mike

Quick question on this... and I know it's an old post. When activating this quick work-around, does the nav stay in this mode, or do you have to do it after every start?
