what is the mayday ecu?
i'm looking through a wiring diagram and there is a mayday ecu unit wired inbetween the stereo and rear left door. i'm just trying to figure out what the mayday ecu is. it's not the nav ecu, because that's labeled somewhere else. thanks

My guess is that its for an optional "Toyota Link" cell phone based emergency service. (similar to ONSTAR in USA) This is sold in AU, and maybe other countries.
I see in the service contract that the "Mayday ecu" is referenced as the device that uses a GSM cell phone and a satellite antenna.

Lexus Link was eliminated shortly after the 2004 RX came out. In fact, every 2004 RX that had Lexus Link was recalled in order to remove the equipment.
My understanding is that Lexus/Toyota Link was based on 800 MHz analog cell phone technology, and analog cell phone service is being eliminated in the United States. It was not feasible to upgrade the Lexus Link equipment to a digital cellular technology, so it was easier to just end the service.
