annoying rear door chime
#3
It's possible to turn off the beeping noise the door makes whenever you operate it using the power opener (either by key remote, the button on the dash, or the close button on edge of the door). It's also possible to decrease the volume.
The change has to be made by a dealer; it's a function of C-BEST, now known as Lexus Personalized Settings. The setting in question is "PBD BUZZ VOL", and the choices are LARGE (the default), SMALL, and OFF.

Nept, if you bought your Lexus new you should have been handed a brochure with the personalized settings and an appointment made for you to bring in your vehicle 30 days later for the dealer to make optional changes that you would like other than the Standard settings that are set at the factory. An example is that I had my headlight sensitivity set where they would come on a lot sooner than the the standard setting. As already stated in the above post you can have your rear door chime shut off. It may cost you since it sounds like the free personalized setting period has expired in your case but it can be done.

I bought my '04 in '06, and was very familiar with the c-best settings list. When I picked up the car, the salesman and I and a mechanic hooked up the computer to make a few changes. As expected, and although we tried to find an "off" setting, we could only reduce the rear door warning to 2 beeps. On the '04 there is no "off" setting available. From my reading, I am pretty sure that an "off" setting was added to the '05 and newer cars.
Somehow I live with it.
