Default Just wanna introduce myself!

Hi, i'm a newby in this forum however i currently drive a RX330 with sport pkg and a pano roof.
Love it a lot. It's so quiet. However, it's not as much fun to drive as some of the other car I have.
I have to question though, is it possible for me to locate an actual TSB for this model? There're certain things that I don't wanna bother the dealer.
Thanks

Welcome!
There are several Technical Service Information Bulletins, or TSIB's in Lexus-speak. (Which is odd, because Toyota and most others call them simply TSB's.) You can search the forum for "TSIB" or "TSB" and find information about the most common ones. There were many for the 2004 model year; fortunately the volume has dropped off substantially as the RX330 matures.

Several places, such as Alldata, have lists of bulletin titles. To get the full contents of the bulletin, you can visit the Lexus TechInfo Web site at http://techinfo.lexus.com. It has the contents of TSIB's, the service manuals, owner's manuals, and instructions for some of the accessories online in PDF format. However, it's not free; it costs $10 for access for one calendar day, and it goes up from there. Note that you'll never download the entire service manual from this site - it's cut up into hundreds of little pieces that are well hyperlinked and useful online, but it would take forever to download. The owner's manual is in about 30 pieces, so that's a bit more tolerable.

...the RX330 is not all that much fun to drive. It's a bit awkward, in fact compared to most sedans.

I disagree with you about it being "so quiet", though. We hav a 1992 LS400 with 100,000 miles and even with snow tires that car is MUCH more quiet than our RX330 with all seasons.

It was actually a bit shocking to see how rough the RX rides and how noisey it is compared to the 14 year old LS400. the engine, in particular, sounds quite unrefined compared to the old LS. And we all know about the transmission.

One of these days we need to go try a new LS or GS to see if they, at least, are holding up the standard for refinement set by the 1st generation LS.

Not to say the RX330 is bad, it's just not as good as we would have thought it would be based on our decade plus of experience with our LS.

Default Welcome to the CL

Its a nice ride for an suv..

As far as comparing it to an LS, I don't know about that.

Remember, 1st generation or not, the LS was and still is Lexus' flagship... and I wouldn't go comparing it's refinement to an RX.. Just like you wouldn't compare the RX to a GX

Apples to oranges I say.

Welcome to CL

IMO, you can't compare a 1992 LS400 engine to a brand new rx330 engine

...4 litre LS400 engine should be soundly out-classed by the more modern RX330 V6, but from personal experience I can tell you it's exactly the opposite.

The RX330 engine MAY have a small advantage in terms of gas mileage, but otherwise the Gen1 LS400 engine is significantly better w.r.t. power and smoothness...especially smoothness.

And w.r.t. transmissions, it's the same thing.

I hope Toyota is not getting spoiled by their success and lowering standards for drivetrain. The new 3.5 litre V6 should be very interesting.
