Default Roof racks starting to fade

I have an 04 RX330, it's just over 2 years old. The roof racks are starting to look very faded, mainly the cross bars and metal side bars. The plastic pieces that connect to the roof itself look brand new. At one time, regular wax was working wonders (like it does on my windshield wiper arms), but it doesn't seem to be working for the roof racks... anybody have any suggestions? Thanks!

do you park outside?

mine is about 2 yrs and 9 months, and the racks still look shiny and new, but it's parked indoors at home, outdoors at work. i give it 2 exterior details per year, and wash about 1-2x per month. and i actually use the racks in the winter for snowboarding (and most recently, 8 ft christmas tree ).

nope, just outdoors at work; other than that its garaged... with your washing 1-2 times a month, do you wax the rails?

I would take the car back to the dealer and have them replaced. They should still be under warranty.

Default Have Lexus replace the rack

This absolutely should not happen. You have paint over metal. Painting metal so it does not fade in a few years is boiler-plate when it comes to building any car let alone a Lexus. They screwed up. Just make 'em fix their screw-up.

You might want to try 303 Aerospace Protectant.
