#1 Lexus RX330
Sales 2005:97001
The ultimate car for upscale suburban moms is also the most popular luxury car overall. The introduction to the range of the RX Hybrid, a gas/electric vehicle, helped push Lexus' RX SUV line just ahead of BMW's 3 Series for the title of best-selling luxury car.
The RX outsells the entire lineups of certain other automakers. For example, add up all of the cars sold this year by Jaguar, Land Rover and Isuzu, and you have a sales total that only matches 83% of the total number of RXs sold this year in the U.S.

#2 BMW 3 Series
Sales 2005: 96358
The overhauled BMW 3 Series sedan has been a hit. It had to be, otherwise the famous 3 Series line might not have maintained such a high place in the ranking of best-selling luxury cars.

#3 Acura TL
Sales 2005: 70943
Driving enthusiasts love Acura's TL for its nimble driving, upscale interior and high-tech features, such as a DVD-Audio player.
Acura overhauled the TL in 2003, and while the vehicle is one of the highest-volume luxury cars, the pace of its sales has slowed dramatically. In 2004, TL sales increased 37%, but so far this year sales have only been up by 0.3%. Expect TL sales to go down for the first time in three years in 2006.

Great choice of cars. Back in 2000 I bought the RX and TL, everything is great except tranny for both cars. Even with $3000 mods, my TL is still less expensive and can kill any 3 series Bimmer

What $3000 mod on a TL lets you kill an M3 (you did say any 3-series)?

Not M3 and I doubt M3 counts for 3 series sedans. M3 counts as sport car and it is in a class by itself, performance and price wise.
$3000 includes Comptech header w/ Jethot, Comptech Icebox, HKS Super Dragger, UR pulley, Comptech sways, Rotora slotted rotors and Akebono ceramic pads, Bilstein shocks, H&R springs. Bought my TL for $27000, $3000 mod and installed everything except pulley myself
With 5 years old TL and 108k miles, I raced a late model 330 and smoked it. What is the price of 330 these days?
It is also a little misleading as BMW pools multiple models with different engines and chasis into a single sales number, when RX300 and TL have to use one model, one chasis to address different market segments. Some can even say BMW "cheated" to get to the top sales but I would put it in the category of Reggie Bush's famous push of his QB on 4th and 1 to beat ND
