RX 330 Modifications - Tips & Tricks ??
I just bought a 2005 RX330 and have spent some time looking at this site and several others with regard to identifying tips and tricks (legal or illegal) to cionsider for my vehicle.
Here are some questions....
1. Is there a reputable chip maker for Lexus? ie. performance based chip
2. If I wanted wider tires for improved hadling, how wide or big can I go before causing issues?
3. Does anyone know how to activate rear camera when in drive or park?
4. Can I change NAV so that I can enter destination while driving?
5. I am having issues with Homelink. I have read that cars with NAV often have this issue. is ther another way to program garage door opener?
One tip I learned from the local dealership was... If Maintenence Required light comes on on dash, one can turn off by holding down odometer reset button while turning key slightly in ignition and holding button for 5 seconds
Thanks for any and all feedback.

Thanks for posting re: mods
I have been looking for successful mods to the 330. Searching the net, other than some pretty sleezy body kits , tI haven't found much. Have found exhaust systems and suspension products but thats about all other than light covers and such. There is a group buy going on for the Thundercloud grill somewhere on this site. If your interested I'll track it down. Personally, the Thunder grill dosn't do anything for me but to each his own luckily.
Hope this thread stays alive for awhile and we get some first hand feedback.

I didn't want my RX to be real loud or spend the big bucks for the aftermarket exhaust. I removed the rear pipe and reasonator (two bolts). I had a local shop make me a 2 1/2 straight pipe. I put in a K& N filter (yes I know all of the stories) and a homemade cold air intake. I added the IAT sensor resistor. Yes, I know everyone says it is a waste of money. Hey, it was $10, big deal. It seems to run a little better but it does sound better for sure when accelerating. It can all be changed back in about 30 minutes if I need to.
Aloha,
Larry

the only thing i changed was the grille. the factory one is so plain IMHO and the TC grille looks fabulous on silver.
here's the thread for the "soft" override on the nav while driving: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=171662
about homelink, i've never heard about nav interfering, and i've had several nav-lexuses with no problem programming both regular codes and rolling codes. rolling code is a little trickier, but that's true for any opener, not just the lexus homelink. just make sure you follow the instructions in the manual for the button part, and then follow your garage mfr's instruction on the operating unit for that part of the programming. i noticed that not all mfr instructions are the same, nor do they mirror the lexus instructions, so that may be the problem you are having.
good luck, and enjoy the car!

You are going to have a hard time...
...finding performance upgrades for the RX330. It is NOT a sports sedan by any stretch and no one is ever going to mistake it for one. It's a tall, sedate FWD-car based wagon. You want sport, sell your RX and get something like a 3 or 5-Series wagon.
Sorry, but it's true. We have a 2003 RX330 and it constatntly disappoints as far as driving enjoyment is concerned. To be fair, my wife loves it; but then she hates my 330i zhp.

You may want to take a look at Hyper Rev Magazine, a Japanese publication. I originally got if for my RX300. Even though most of it is in Japanese, I would estimate it focuses a little more on the RX330 than the Harrier/RX300 and the Kluger/Highlander. Lots of pictures and interesting parts.

The place I bought it from indicated on their website they could help procure any of the parts mentioned in the magazine. We have actually had a CL member help a few of us in translating some of my scans of some pages.
A lot of the parts I saw in that magazine already exist here or available through U.S. vendors. The interesting thing about this magazine, more like a catalog, is that it shows available things in one compact format.
After seeing that magazine I really wanted to get, for instance, Zeit Rims and Ritz Superfuses. They also had some really neet lowered RXs, a lot of body kits and they had a section that showed tons of different rim designs on RX330s.

The one thing I really would like is adjustable coil overs for the RX330. The Eibach springs I have just don't lower the car enough. There are a few other brands out there that lower about 0.5" more, but that still really is not enough at least for me.
