Default 06 Rx 330

Hello,
I am planning on purchasing an 06 RX330 and for some reason, I read on the brochure that the RX has tilting mirrors when reversing. But when I test drove it apparently it wasnt tilting and the sales person didn't have much knowledge of it. Does anyone here know if its confirmed to be on the 06's. And is it some option that you have to purchase and if so, what is the package name? Thanks!!!

Yes, the side rearview mirrors will tilt down when reversing. I don't think it's an option. The amount of tilt is adjustable when the car is in reverse, so the model you drove may have not been adjusted properly.

This feature on RX330's (and I imagine 400h's) is controlled by the swiitch for the power side mirrors.

If you leave the switch set on either the left mirror or the right mirror, the mirrors will tilt down when you put the car in reverse. This helps you see curbs, lines, etc. for parking.

If you leave the switch in the center position, the mirrors do not tilt.

beautiful. Thanks for your help. Currently I drive an Infiniti G35 Coupe and recently got married, so I just sold that car and now looking at this car. Anyone have any regrets? Pros and Cons? Thank you in advance.

You're welcome. Personally, I think the RX is an excellent vehicle. If the price range doesn't bother you, then it's well worth the money.

I'm surprised I'm saying this, but I do have one regret, and that's getting an '04 early in the production (#28000). It has had more silly little problems than I expect from Lexus, even though it was made in Japan. I didn't think twice at the time, because I also had a '99 RX300 (#85000), and that was a great car - no complaints whatsoever. If they got it right with a totally new model in '99, then I assumed there would be no problem with a redesign in '04. Unfortunately, that didn't work out. The Lexus dealer has been good about fixing things, and so far I haven't put any money into repairs, but it's still annoying. I probably wouldn't have any complaints about an '05 or '06.

Awesome!!! I'm getting piece of mind! I did regret getting my G35 Coupe as the first year production car as well. And even though they had TSB for the kinks, its just annoying and time consuming to get them fixed. Till this day, the rattles and creaks still never went away. I just sold the car and will more than likely get the RX in the coming couple weeks. Thanks again for your help!

I think I am the only person here who wishes he would not have bought the RX. I have had no problems at all, I just find it a very boring vehicle. No thrill or fun or excitement or --- anything. Sorry guys to be such a grouch

Aloha,
Larry

I have an 05 RX 330. Overall I have been very pleased with the vehicle. I enjoy the ride and handling. My only complaint would have to be the fact that it is not as quiet as My 04 Honda Pilot was. I really expected a more quiet vehicle for the money. I also have had issues with the front windows closing too tightly and bending the weatherstrip enough to allow wind/road noise into the cabin. It's possible that the 06 has been improved in this regard.

Good luck, I'm sure you will enjoy your purchase.

I also am happy with my 04. I had the window noise issue but it was fixed while I had my 5k oil changed. They gave be a new RX330 as a loaner that day even though it only took them a couple hours to service the vehicle.

The RX is a great highway cruiser as well. I just drove it from Milwaukee, WI to Cape Coral, FL (1,500 mi,)on my annual sunbird migration and was averaging 26 mpg at 70 mph. I can drive this thing for hours with no fatigue.

My only complaint is that it didn't come with a method for easily adding my iPod to the ML Stereo. I had to settle for an iTrip which was ok but not perfect.

As soon as Lexus puts the 350 engine in the RC I'm going to get one. I don't think I have much to gain with a hybrid as I very seldom do city driving.

I give it

I have a love/hate relationship with my 2004 RX 330. Overall, I like the vehicle, but, I am very disappointed with the brakes. At 75,000 all highway miles, I have had to replace the front rotors twice and machined once and I think I'm going to have to do it again. The first two sets were under warranty. I am hopeful that the dealership will be understanding once again.

Why? Were the rotors worn out? Were they warped? Tell us more.

Default Bad idea

I own a 330i zhp and and an RX330. The RX330 is my wife's daily driver. Your G35 coupe is roughly like my 330i in terms of fun to drive. I tell you this, if I had to switch from driving the 330i to the RX330 I would absolutely hate the change. The RX330 is nowhere near as enjoyable or rewarding a driver's car. I never drove a G35 coupe, but I did drive a G35 manual sedan and while it was not as good as a 330i, it still beat the heck out of the RX330.

My wife likes the RX, but her other car is an older LS400, a superb luxury sedan, but not sports sedan.

I think you will be sorry.
