I just bought a 2006 RX 330. I had "hard wired" my ipod into my previous car's radio. However, when I called "Al N Ed's Autosound" to have the same done on the new Lexus, they told me that because I don't have the rear entertainment system there is no way to do this. (I have navigation.) Does anyone know if it is possible to hard-wire an ipod into this particular model? I live in LA so the FM transmitters for iPods don't work very well (the FM band is too crowded). I tried a cassette tape adaptor and the sound quality was poor. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Melexus,
I'm searching for just a solution (direct connecting my iPod to the radio). I've found a few products but haven't found someone who already has them installed to get feedback on good they work. I would appreciate if you let me know what you decide.
Regards,
Mike

If you dig the audio forum, there is post on how some one using switches and isoalting transformer hooked up ipod to the GS. I think (not sure) RX330 uses the a similar setup [differential voltage for each channel], if so same or similar setup can be done. Another person replaced the switches with relays.
Simplest way is use a FM transmitter or use a cassette thingy.

I have a 2006 RX400 h and a 2003 LX 470. There is a company in Denver that make an interface unit that will connect both iPod and satellite to control through the dash and steering wheel. It is a direct connect with RCA cords. The company name is Vais Technology and has a web site at www.vaistech.com. I bought one for the RX and will have it installed on Wed.

I have just purchased a RX400H which has the ML sound system and the factory navigation as well as the rear seat entertainment system. If you want to install either an Ipod interface and/or an XM radio interface look at the modules by Vais Technology. They out now an XM only module and an IPod only module and will have out at the end of February a combined XM/Ipod module. It is hard wired into the factory harness so you get CD quality sound. look at the websites for Vais Technology and Soundgate.com for more details.

Their website only shows adapters for the 400. I have emailed them regarding the 330 and will let you guys know when I hear from them regarding adapters for the 330 as well.

I tried several of the FM transmitters before going hardwire. RoadTrip was the best of the transmitters that I tried. It is a nice portable system with charging and adjustable stations. The noise cancelling was very good. However it plugs into the cigarette lighter and was a little akward in my wife's RX330.
However I installed the Dension iceLink in my Porsche and LOVE it. I have not used the CD player since. The install is not hard and looks OEM. Sound is transferred through the dock port, not the headset jack. The sound is incredible (if you used 160+ bitrate compression for your iPod). You can use your radio to control the iPod. They also have the kit for Lexus.
Check out Densionusa.com.

I've spoken to Denison on multiple occasions in the past 3 months. At this point, they do NOT support the RX330 w/ Nav. They originally told me it was going to be a few weeks. After 6 weeks, I finally got a tech person to acknowledge it may be another 3-4 months. The Denison product looks good but aware it may not be fully functional with the current release.
