I too put about 40K on my original Michelins. My car now has about 53K but I swapped to my aftermarket rims since. I still have tread left on the Michelins, so I'd guess it would have gone to at least 45K, and even 50K or longer if I ran them bald.

My Michelin MXV4's are worn down to the point of replacement this summer at about 33K now. I'm considering the Bridgestone Alenzas, even though I'm very pleased with the performance of the Michelin's - and had great service from the CT's on my RX 300 too. The Bridgestones on my old Civic commuter car were really great handlers, smooth, quiet and absolutely wore like iron. I don't think I can make a bad decision here, but I'll wait a month or two - maybe for a Labor Day sale, before I commit.

Costco runs summer sales on Michelins. Their prices include mounting, lifetime balancing/rotation, and road hazard coverage all for what most people would pay for just the tire. I personally think they're the best place to get tires, but they now only carry Michelins and BFGs (nice tires, but choices would have been nice). I have gone Michelin for the last three four-tire replacements I had and have absolutely no regrets. MXV4 Pluses went on the Volvo and they have been excellent on both the ride and wear end.

If you look at the TireRack.com ratings for these tires you will come to the conclusion that the Alenza's are the better choice. Better handling in all kinds of weather and road conditions, quieter, and much longer life. Easy choice, IMO.
