Default Rain sensing wipers

I would like to hear opions whether it is worth getting rain sensing wipers. I rarely use heatedseats. I find cooled seats better down here in the south.

Rain-sensing wipers are very handy running in and out of rain showers. I seldom use any other position. Headlamp washers that are usually packaged with them are a total waste of money - unless you do a lot of bogging in your RX.

The seat heaters are also handy even in the South - especially when running with the windows down on a chilly day - you get fresh air without freezing your backside. On really cold days the seats start producing heat before I've gone more than a half mile. The seat's electric resistance wire gets busy long before the engine thermostat opens and the heater produces anything but an arctic blast.

If you overdo your workout or have a chronic back problem, turning up the heat on the seats is really theraputic. My wife, who can't seem to tolerate temperatures above 70 degrees will actually use them on a summer day to ease her back pain. It really works!

Now if Lexus would develop a Shiatsu massage seat . . . . she'd probably leave me.

Thanks for the reply. I had rainsensing with my LS and I agree with you, I always had it in that position. As for the heated seats, I still don't find it that useful and prefer the cooled seats. However looking at the RX's available, I have yet to see rain sense offered without heated seats.

In my area the rain sensing wipers are packaged with the heated seats. In NJ you do want the heated seats. When the car sits out in the cold the heated seats work instantly. The normal heat comes later. I do love the rain sensing wipers because the rain does change rapidly here.

Call me old fashion but my eyes are the best rain sensing equipment I need. These wipers remind me of the display in some stores with a rock and a sign. The sign says Weather Rock - if the rock is wet it is raining, if the rock is white it is snowing...

I do NOT care for an irregular beat to my wipers as THEY decide when to turn on. My other cars have intermittant wipers that you set the speed. Just my opinion.

Btw, my sentiments for the autosensing headlights. If it is dark or near dark I turn on my headlights. No need for the auto-on feature.

I believe you can get rain sensing wipers without the heated seats, but buying a heated seats always come with rain sensing wipers if I recall correctly. In my opinion, rsw is non-essential although my RX came with it. The controls for the wipers are very easy to reach. One less electronic gadget I have to worry about.

I wasn't crazy about buying the rain sensing wipers but they were included on the car I found. After driving the car for about 6 months, I have to admit they work very well. In the winter, I do have to turn them off when there is frost on the windows and I remote start the engine. I still dread the day if they ever begin to malfunction.

I would agree with the previous person that the headlight washers are useless in my opinion. They just seem to use more washer fluid.

I did have the sensitivity adjusted on the headlights so they turn on a little sooner than the default setting. I can't remember the last time I touched the headlight switch so they work well for me.
