Default Nav system lock disable fix?

I found the fix for the nav system that disables the lock out when driving, but it is only temporary. Is there a way to make it so that you don't have to do this every time you start and stop the car?

Hmm, how do you temporarily disable the lockout? Thanks in advance.

Go to the DVD screen (Menu/DVD) and touch the following 3 corners of the screen in this order:
Top Left, Bottom Left, Top Left, Bottom Left, Bottom Right.

This bring up a diagnostic menu screen.

Touch and hold "Override" for about 3 seconds until the square changes color.

Then go "Back."

You can now access all NAV menu items while the car is moving.

Note three things:
1. This setting is lost when you stop the engine, and the setting can only be made while the car is stopped. 2. Don't mess with anything else in that menu -- you can screw up the settings and calibration of the GPS if you are not careful. 3. Messing around with the menus while driving CAN really be distracting and is dangerous (which is why you can't do it --- this override is for testing and diagnostic purposes) -- only use this if you have a passenger who might want to make some settings. In the several years I have known about this, I have seldom found it as helpful as I thought I might. It's nice to know it's there, but frankly, it's not all that big a deal.

I tried this, but can't get it to work. Is this for the 330 or 350? I have a 350, and when I hit Menu, I just see the Map DVD button. If I press that and try the corner sequence, nothing happens. Does the ignition need to be off to do this?

no the car has to be up and running. everytime you start it again it will lose the temporary override.

if you have an 06 330 or a new 350, the settings are different. you go the volume screen instead and do the sequence Top Left, Bottom Left, Top Left, Bottom Left. then do the 3 second hold on override and hit back.

LL is right again. That code I described above only works on Gen 2 and Gen 3 systems. Mine is an '04 RX with a Gen 3 system. In '05, the RX moved to the Gen 4 system, so that code will work only on RXs with NAV that are '04 or earlier.

Default NAV Override

I have an 05 RX with Gen 4 NAV and that hack works for me. Also you can do it while the car is moving, so you don't need to do it in advance, just do it when you find you need it.

It works on my '07 RX 350. Menu, Volume, then do the top-left, bottom-left, top-left, bottom-left thing with the corners of the screen.

Default CarTV Video of Nav & Phone Unlock

Here is a link to a video showing the steps to unlock (temporary) the Nav & Phone. The instructions are floating around in a number of places, but this video helps walk someone thru it.

http://www.cartv.com/content/researc...s/MODEL_VCH/LS

Hope it helps those looking for the temporary unlock.

James, does this hack allow use of the phonebook while moving on RX350's?

This hack works on my 2005 RX but only for the NAV, it doesn't change anything for the phone.

Thanks.

Default Nav Hack

On the 06 (Gen 5 Nav) it unlocks the phonebook, and on some of the older systems it does. I'm working on putting together a collection of "hacks" and will produce short videos of each to help others.

I'd just picked up my 07 RX350 this weekend and tried the override by press Menu button and following 2 or 3 corners of the screen in the order from previous post: Top Left, Bottom Left, Top Left, Bottom Left, Bottom Right.
But nothing happen. I think it's because I didn't get the DVD option. Mines a 6 dics CD changer and not DVD. Could this be the reason???
