Take a look at the cable that goes from the box to the iPod. If there is a small black cylinder (I believe this contains the 5 volt regulator) near the connection to the adapter box, you have the upgraded cable. The image below is the new cable.
You can buy it separately if you do not have it. Google CBP105 USA Spec.

Hey so I hate to bring a thread back to life. However I think it's not necessary to start a new one. I still cannot get the device to charge my ipod. I have so far done a reset twice and bought a new cable that was exactly like the one I already had. No change at all. I tried my iphone and no change. Still just sees an accessory but not charging.
I will call USA Spec but I got this on ebay at least 4months ago. Dunno what they really can do to help. But there is obviously some thing wrong since it does say at multiple areas on the documentation that it's compatible with the new tech and is supposed to charge the devices. It's just not an enjoyable experience to not only have to charge the ipod every day, but taking it out of it's place in the glove box, never being able to really save my place on my play list cause of this either.
Part of the point and why I think some pay well for this is pretty much to plug and play and forget till you want to add more music. Lets see what happens and if I need to fork over another $150+ for a new one.

i was silly and did it in the dark and in freezing cold snowy weather. also tested both the sl2i-up vs the slu (purchased them both, one for the rx400h and the other for the is250) and ultimately decided upon the sl2i-up.
1.5 hours i included cleaning up the car LOL.
thank you infinirx again. complete lifesaver.

I called them and their tech support person asked if I were installing myself and when I said yes, he directed me to the forum. I have to say I was disappointed with the response considering the customer service I received when I placed my order.

I installed the Vais SL2i-UP on my 2007 RX 400h using the CD-MP3 mode but I get nothing on the nav screen. If I don't don't set it to simple mode it always reverts to the first album on the ipod and I can't change to any other albums. When I put it in simple mode I have to control the ipod with the ipod. I'm kind of irritated that it doesn't show up on the nav screen like the pictures in the manual. I have reset it several times and get the same results every time. Any suggestions?

The GTA kit is cheaper and gives you control through the radio and pad switch. I do not have that on my Vaistech SL2U. Still cool with it.
