Default Now THAT'S Great Customer Service!

I posted here recently about intermittent problems I was having with my CD player to see if anyone else was experiencing similar issues. I started having the problem all the time (when I pushed the 'load' button, nothing happened, and I couldn't play any CDs at all), so I emailed the dealer to schedule an appointment to get it fixed.

They emailed back that they don't fix these, they just replace them, so they needed the number off the unit so that they could order a new one. When I sent them the number, they said it would take 3 days to receive the part... AND they would then send out a road technician to either my home or office to install it!

I scheduled the appointment for this Sat. at my home for 10:30am, he showed up right on time, and installed it in about 30 minutes. It doesn't get any easier or more convenient than that!

I think the quality of Lex dealer service varies from place to place depending on how busy it is.

I am in Northern Cal (SF Bay Area). About one month ago, I called my local dealer for a flat-bed tow service to pickup my 06' Rx for brake problem, and they said their tow truck schedule were full and the fastest openning will take a least 2 weeks!

Just about 3 months ago when I bought the car, I remember the dealer said they offer free, same day, flat-bed tow service to their customers.

I am sure I won't find that "same day towing" statement on my receipt, but "2 weeks to tow" was a lame lie.

Anyway, I love Toy and Lex, and I hate dealers always.

I agree 100% that the dealer quality varies. The pickings are pretty slim in my state.

However, in their defense.... My understanding is that the free roadside assistance is provided through a third party contracted vendor. (ie: AAA) and isnt the responsibility of your local dealer's flat bed. You have to call the 800 customer care # to request roadside assistance - at the national level. They then dispatch it, prepaid, through the third party vendor.

I could be wrong, but this is my understanding.

I like the Sewell Lexus Dallas dealers, they are much nicer than Park Place Lexus Dallas dealers. They always go extra an mile to help you out.

The 2 Lexus dealers in Cincinnati (Performance Lexus and Riverside Lexus) which have the same ownership, now have their own Service Van to respond to local distress calls. I have not used this yet, and have not even seen the van, but the service manager tells me that they expect to be able to take care of many repairs on location, thus avoiding the tow.

We shall see.
