Yes, they do recline. I'd estimate about a 15 degree angle from its normal rest position.

I would at least go to the dealer and check it out yourself. I just estimated it. The normal backrest position is arleady at an angle leaning back, so the estimated 15 or so degrees was in addition to it. I would say total it is less than 45 degrees, but more than 30 degrees at its full recline position.

my sister has an X5, i have the RX. the X5 recline is far LESS than the RX. you can get the RX relatively far down, i would say similar to an airplane seat. definitely nap-worthy. good for long trips.

usually i have it laid back pretty far, but then people get in the back and raise it b/c they think it's not a "sitting" position

hopefully that gives you some idea of what it's like.

The rear seats adjust fore and aft about 4", allowing the backs to recline a little more in the forward position. To get the full reclining position you may have to pull the seat bottoms forward by lifting the bar at the lower edge of the cushion and tugging them forward. This is most easily done by us long-legged folks (who still value our kneecaps) from outside the car.

Wouldn't the seatbelt keep them from falling forward?

The body yes, but not the head. My son is the same way in his booster seat. Often when he sleeps his head hangs forward and you have to keep pushing his head back.

RX rear seats were nice but wasn't reclining enough... so I got GX...
My wife's happy! She didn't want RX...
My kids are happy! Plenty of room in the back and comfy seats....
I guess I should be happy too because my family's happy.... But, I can't stop thinking about montly payments... since we went way over budget...
