I think it would be worth it just to catch the bastards that boosted your ride. I was told no annual fees...lifetime "membership". I guess, if they do recover your car and it's been beaten up, then instead of a replacement, one would be forced to fix their stolen car? Point being, you may not want your stolen car back...

My understanding of lojack is that is WORTHLESS. There is a transponder in your car.. its not GPS or anything lke that. They have equipment in police cars which can pick up the signals (the "coverage" of lo jack is determined by which police departments have fitted the equipment in their cars). IE: Read this: http://www.fhp.state.fl.us/PhotoGallery/PG060605.htm

They USED to have a map on their website, now they don't any longer, but it showed how there are many states without coverage, so in theory someone could transport your car to such an area and be able to strip the car for parts (and of the lo jack) with little risk of detection.

However I'll agree with Paul.... like the story above the only real benefit to lo-jack is the possibility that the culprits are caught.

I agree that LoJack is not worth it.

I bought my 07 RX 350 a month ago. I was told by my insurance agent that the discount to my annual insurance would be only $8/year if I had LoJack. So it def would not pay for itself in the form of lower insurance premiums.

I would think that the insurance companies would encourage people to get LoJack with steeper permium discounts if it was a truly effective deterrent.

If my car was stolen, I would not want to get it back. Who knows what happened to the car? Who knows who got raped or got killed in the back seats?

About a month ago, a priest in Vegas assaulted somebody in the church. He got in his car and drove away. A few days later the police turn on the Lo Jack in his car to pin point his location. He was arrested outside Phoenix.

Not to say any of you will be a fugitive, but if you were, why would you want someone to pin point your location?
