im not sure how much this will help, but im sure theres a way around the problem. im running a aftermarket amp and two subs off the OEM nav/radio combo. the instalers said it was possible to add an aftermarket radio to the setup via a line drop/convertor. again i have no idea what that means but yea....

Sorry i am late to the party, i did not anticipate any issues. I wanted to get a bluetooth radio so that my daughters would drive hands free (i know she should not use phone at all). i found this one and went to best buy, i have a 2004 lexus rx330 with navigation and decided on this Alpine CDESXM145BT, they installed it, i drove halfway home til i noticed no nav, no control of the heating etc.they told me they could bury the curent stereo somewhere and connect two long cables to them, i had them un-install it, bit waste, there has to be a better way?

There are a few threads here at 2nd Generation RX which discuss this exact circumstance. It can easily be done, however, you need the right bits and pieces for the job. You need the right harness in your case. The folks at Best Buy are a bit dim, IMO, to handle such. You will want to do some reading up on the install performed by 1koolfella who lays out everything you will need to know. If you do not feel up to taking on the job at least you will know what you need to talk about when looking for an appropriate shop to perform the install for you.

There is quite a bit in that thread, forward and aft of the point I marked out for you, so take your time. You can post any additional questions at the end of that thread.

Here is another one for you which closer pertains to the unit you were trying to install:
