Default Avg MPG on RX350 17???

I had a Lexus Rx330 as a loaner...as per the trip computer, I avg 21.3 mpg. While my new RX350 avg around 17 mpg. What is the deal?
Of note, the avg was calculated from my home to my place of work.
Any input appreciated. Otherwise, love my truck.

Will

Hmm...driving habit maybe? I filled my first tank of gas and I averaged 23.2 according to the computer and 22.8 according to manual calculations. In either case, I'd be happy to average that amount for the lifetime of the RX.

It really depends on how you drive and the driving conditions. My favorite activity sitting in rush hour is watching my avg MPG and avg speed stats drop. I get a lot of joy when they are equal.

My RX is only 6 weeks old and I have 1300 miles. My avg has been around 16-17 MPG.

My RX-350 has 3500 miles on it and I get 20 mpg in mixed driving and 16-17 city only.

Mine has 870 miles, average 19-20, but last week when I took a long highway trip (150 miles), average was way above my expectation 27.7 MPG

Since my last post on this topic, I have put 1000 more miles on the 350. 1500 total miles, 150 highway miles and 14.7 on the computer. I'm no lead foot either. I have paid attention to the "break in period" and I'm still gettin lousy mileage. I'll get the 400 next time. I would have gotten it this time but the 400 didn't have the beautiful wood steering wheel.

I'm beginning to see some correlation here. Those who bought the RX350 expecting to see great miles to the gallon are bound to be disappointed, and those who didn't even consider it are happy with the fuel consumption.

I'll be honest, I really don't care about gas mileage or the gas prices because I have a company gas card. But it's more like an eye opener to me constantly wondering what those ugly Tahoe's, Suburbans and Expeditions get for gas mileage. 8-10 mpg around town?

Good point. I used to drive a Mercedes ML320. I was getting about 13.5 to 15 MPG. So I was looking forward to getting something closer to 20 MPG. Although 16-17 is better than what I had, it is less than I expected.

I definitely had MPG in mind before the purchase. Based on the research I performed prior to purchase, I expected around 18MPG for all around use. My RX only has had 2 tank fills, but I'm averaging around 22MPG all around. This is definitely a pleasant surprise.

I often put the trip information on screen, which keeps me mindful of my foot and the gas pedal.

I have 6000 miles on my FWD RX350, and I have never got less than 19 MPG on a tank full. Mostly it has been over 20 in city driving. On my current tank the trip computer reads 22. On the highway it gets about 24.
