What is TSB & TSIB and what to do with them?
Please excuse my ignorance as I am just a newbie. I have seen references made to TSBs and TSIBs in the forum, but I am not sure what the acronyms mean, and what do I do with them. From what I gathered, they seem to be some kind of issues/problems with the vehicle, but are they recalls? I know users have provided links to TSIBs, but do I print them and take them to the dealers and just ask them to correct the issues/problems? Thanks in advance.

TSIB = Technical Service Information Bulletin
TSB = Technical Service Bulletin
TSIB and TSB are basically the same thing. You do not have to print these TSIB and take it to a dealer; unless, you find an issue and is releated with your RX. You can go to http://www.alldata.com/tsb/ and findout most recent TSBs. Hope it helps!!

TSB's (Lexus calls them TSIB's) are not recalls. They're more like official internal memos to dealers about a known solution to a common problem that customers *might* have.
The dealer is not obligated to do any work that's described in a TSIB unless your car demonstrates the problem/symptoms that it's meant to fix. Also, you would have to pay for any work related to a TSIB if the car is not under warranty.

The "smart" way to get TSB's done
is to pick one or two (luckily there aren't that many for our cars) and tell service rep that you are experiencing symptoms that match up with the problem and you probably can get most items fixed regardless. The closer you are to the end of your warranty the better or more valuable a new part becomes to you. I keep track of all TSB's and which ones have been addressed on all my vehicles.

There weren't nearly as many TSIB's for the 05 as there were for the 04. Although there probably isn't a good single list on the forum, a search for "TSIB" or "TSB" would find discussions about the most interesting ones.
Note that not all TSIB's describe problems. Since they're kind of like memos, some talk about mundane things like paint color codes, where to find identification plates, locations of solonoids on the transmission, etc.
The quickest way to see all TSIB's relevant for your Lexus would be to pay $10 for one-day access to the Toyota Tech Info System (TIS) web site, http://techinfo.lexus.com. Not only can you easily search for a list, but you can access the full TSIB documents as PDF files.
