Default Is the 3M film worth it for the Headlights?

I had Aero Tect do the clear bra, Been noticing older vehicles with worn out head lamp covers. I'v never owned a vehicle that has this happen, then again, I never own a car for more than 5-6 years...I plan on keeping my RX350 longer than 6 years and I do do a lot of highway driving...what do you think should I get the headlights done? The standard clear bra is 8mm, the headlight is 20mm.. any info is appreciated

Default 3m

i would do the headlights they are expensive to replace when a rock chips the lense, and at least the bumper also a rock collector. i dont like the seam on the hood where the product ends half way but i also have chips in the grille area where i didnt add the protection. i like the 'cups' in the door handle to be done also for scratch protection. there is a guarantee against yellowing, and it really saves the finish. i would not pay for what the dealer charges unless they discount it alot, many aftermarket places will do it for half of the dealer charge.

This is a good question. I guess it depends on how much it will cost to have the film applied. I had 48-49K miles on my RX330 when it was replaced under warranty by the dealer and while I had some nicks and scratches in them, they were not cloudy at all. Since I have refurbished plastic lens headlights before, I have no doubt a little TLC and polishing would have brought them back to near perfect condition. This does bring up a few what ifs though. What if you need to have your headlights replaced because of the condensation problem? How much will it cost to have the film reapplied? Do you want them to stay perfect, or just not them look really bad in the long run. With the condition of mine after nearly 50K miles, I have no doubt that with a little TLC the condition and looks of the headlights can still look really good after 6 years.

Anyway, for me, I would do it if the price is right. If the price is really expensive, I might not do it because chances are you will have to replace the headlights for condensation anyway.

The cost to have it done is $70-$80, not too expensive.. for me it's the time and distance involve

Yes. Go for it. I have both paint and headlight protection on my cars. It is simple enough to replace the headlight ones every feel years if you want it to look fresh again. It is cheaper to do than to replace the housings.

At that price I'd have it done myself.
