RX330 and XM finally the right solution
I have done a ton of research this is your best bet, you can have the dealership or an independent install it
In order to enjoy XM radio in select 2001-07 RX330 you will need the following parts:
LEXXMV6

XMD1000

and of course your subscription to XM radio

From my understanding, it's two pieces.
1. XM receiver
2. XM radio adapter
For example, I have a JVC receiver that's XM ready in my Acura. I had to purchase the XMD1000 radio and the XMDJVC100 adapter. The adapter is basically what connects to your radio and is the interface for XM.
I need to determine the adapter type used by the RX. Once determined, you can purchase a kit from eBay for around $60. The difficult part is getting to teh back of the radio in order to plug in the power. (Adapter supplies power, data and audio to the RX receiver)

too much $?
I probably would have the dealer install the factory version, given its difficulty, whereas many have successfully installed the Vais Tech model with a few hours work and no real complaints. I'll take that and pay a few bucks extra for the Vais version (I'm waiting for a group buy opportunity, though) vs. shelling out $600+ to the dealer.
Just my opinion, though. . .

VaisTech costs too much? No way!!
To the person who said it cost too much for the VaisTech interface and the Terk XM tuner, check it out. I got my VaisTech at the group buy for $220 plus $20 shipping, and the Terk from Crutchfield for $35 (which included a $30 prepaid programming card). So, while the Raleigh NC Lexus dealer wanted to charge me $399 plus tax just for the hardware, I have all that plus the $30 prepaid service card for about $275, for a better integrated solution. And my local professional XM/Sirius installer will charge me less than $150 to install, vs the $400 plus tax the dealer wanted just to install their kit.
Here's the response from the Lexus dealer who I bought my 2007 RX 350 from:
"Good morning and thank you for your inquiry. The XM satellite radio kit is a normal stocking item. I will provide you both part numbers and prices along with the installed price. Any questions you may have please don't hesitate to contact me. We look forward to hearing from you and appreciate your business.
XM satellite radio parts and labor to install $ 799.00.
XM parts seperate XM fit kit 86100-0W160 $ 134.00 plus tax.
XM receiver 86180-0W030 $ 265.00."

I'm sure the Vaistech interface is superior than what you get with the factory installed parts. The only catch is the installation. It's much more difficult to find a reputable 3rd party installer than simply having the dealer perform the service. Not only "should" the dealer know the ins and outs of your vehicle, but you also don't potentially void any electronics warranty.
The average asking price of the dealers I've spoken with is around $500-600. I'd rather pay this much than taking a chance of having a shoddy 3rd party installer perform the work.
My opinion, of course.
Now if I had referrals of good Vaistech installers in the are working with my specific model, then I would defintely reconsider!
