Default Post Sale Optional Services ... A good deal?

Hi,

Picked up an RX350 yesterday for my wife.

While sitting with the finance guy, he offered a number of optional services such as:

* Lexus Care Vehicle Service Agreement
- 6yrs/70Kmiles = $1700
- 7yrs/75K miles = $2100
- 5yrs/100K miles = $2000
- 6yrs/100K miles = 2100
- 7yrs/100K miles = $2400

* Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP Insurance); $540

* Paint Protection Film (3M Scotchguard film); $995

* Appearance Protection; $485

* Lo-jack; $695

* Zero Dents (dent, scratch, plus wheel repair)
>Dings/Dents only
- 3 yrs = $390
- 4 yrs = $450
- 5 yrs = $550
>Wheel scrapes, small paint chips/scratches
- Add $200 to any term

* Diamond-Fusion Windshield Protection; $680

Do you recommend any of the above? The Service agreement sounds only since it is $0 deductible and 100% refundable if not used. The Zero Dents program sounds interesting also.

Would appreciate your thoughts please.

Thanks,
eagle

I bought the 7/100K warranty for $2000 and the credit union I got my loan through offered GAP insurance for $99.

Then I would definitely purchase the dent/scratch warranty. What is offered in the Service Agreement? Does this only include minor service such as oil change, rotations, etc? Or does it include all the fluids, brake pads, rotors, etc? If the latter, then I would definitely purchase the service agreement also.

I wish my dealer offered these services!! I only had a few choices such as extended warranty and lo jack.

That's semantics.

The Lexus Gold Program provides factory-backed extended vehicle service protection for customers who desire extensive coverage for most component groups in their vehicles after the factory warranty expires.
It's an extension of coverage to various parts of the vehicle after your standard warranty expires.

Hi Tripledes and jjbodean,

You're both right. It's not a service plan. And technically from a legal standpoint, a service plan is different from a service agreement.

At any rate, they have three different Warranty plans under this VSA: Platinum, Gold, and Powertrain.

Thanks,
eagle

eagle,

yes, sorry to get off on a tangent.

anyways, imho there is value in the platinum vsa, gap, and clearbra, however, i think those quotes are a little high.
