Brake Noise
Id thought id tackle this little problems as well in addition to the wobbling
so as we have established, there are a lot of hills in san francisco, and braking on them is killer to a car that weights so much. so when i get close to 0mph, the car makes this sound, like large coils bending. im not sure if its the suspension in the front (sound is definately coming from the front), is taking a lot of pressure because of the hard braking. Sometimes, it just happens on flat road too, when im braking harder than usual. its kind of a groan, and also that sound pressing down coils makes.
any ideas?

First seggestion is work on one problem at a time. Some times one gets lucky and by two things two problems get solved but then if there is an incremental improvement, the data becomes non-conclusive.
Back to your question ...
If your wheel has been wobbling for a long time, the suspension has been exposed to forces, it was not designed for and by letting this go on, you may have significantly reduced the life of suspesnsion parts. A thorough investigation of suspension will re-assure every thing is ok or not.
Then there can be an actual problem with the brake system as well. If your mpg is drastically low, you may have a brake drag problem and that causes brake fading and that makes the driver engage brakes harder and more wear with less stoppage and on and on.
