Default Roof box to carry skis for RX350

I just purchase a 07 RX350 to replace my 99 RX300. I used to use a Yakima Rocket Box 16 for my ski trip. But it is too long for RX350. The hatch door can not fully open. Since I am use the cargo box to carry skis, the very shot box is not acceptable. Does anyone use the cargo box from Yakima or Thule on your RX350? I am currently considering following boxes:

1. Yakima SkyBox 16s: 81in x 36in x 15in ( not sure can the hatch door be fully opened?)
2. Thule Atlantis 1600: 74in x 36in x 16.3in ( only fit ski under 180cm)

I need some suggestion form you. Thanks.

do you have the front crossbar moved all the way up? there are two rubber strips that are factory installed that you can remove to allow one more forward position of the front crossbar.

the old RX is shorter than the new RX. unless your old RX didn't have a spoiler, i can see why maybe the new RX hatch is interfering... make sure you remove the rubber strips on the front of the roof rack and slide the front cross bar all the way up. maybe that will give you the clearance you need.

we use ski/snowboard holders and our old RX had a spoiler, as does the new one. on the old RX, the snowboards would often scratch the rear spoiler when the hatch was opened. we don't have that same problem on this new RX.

Thanks for your suggestion. Yes, my old RX300 does not have spoiler. I did remove the rubber strips and move the front crossbar to the end. Thanks.

After some research, I bought the Thule 686 Atlantis1600 Rooftop Cargo Box and it fit perfectly on my RX350. The hatch door can be fully open. This box is the longest car top cargo box which can fit on the factory roof rack and allow hatch gate to be fully opened. It is not very long but still can carry ski up to 180cm. (Amazon.com has a good deal on this box now )
