Cool, more info please.

Is it just for show? Is there a skid plate?
How sturdy are the mount/attachment points?

As Will Smith said "I GOTTA get me one of these!" That is really sharp looking. Do you have a side view shot and where to buy?

If it is a Jaos product, I can attest to their longevity, good fit, no-rust, no vibrations and on and on.

But then Jaos is not known for hiding their name.

Can you please explain to me what's the purpose of the nudge bar, especially on a RX where you don't take it off-road?

Some mods are for function and some for form (personal gratification for the owner ... similar to HID fog lights etc). The good ones do both form and function.

Nudge bar for RX is for form only. The one I have on (Jaos on '99) would do more damage to my RX if I try pushing anything with it.

Also: When you have too many of a vehicle on the road, making it look slightly different also stokes the gratification.

Very nice look! A lot more subtle than the full wrap "bull bars" that used to be seen on a lot of RX's. This probably wouldn't compromise the function of the bumper so much in a light collision.

I don't know how these bars would function in a collision, but there was some comment a few years ago when they first became popular on truck-based SUV's that because they circumvented the crash protection feature of the front bumper, transferring even a light shock to the frame, that airbags were being triggered with even a moderate tap. I suppose the accelerometers in the body assumed that if a shock of that magnitude got through the front bumper padding, it was time to protect the occupants, causing them to deploy in a premature fit of electro-mechanical seppuku, wrecking the interior.

That nudge bar is an original Lexus accessory sold here in Australia. Here's the same nudge bar from a different angle:

The front number plate bracket looks so wide because Australian number plates are narrow by world standards. Lexus must be installing a one size fits most number plate bracket on its RX models for certain markets.

So apparently Lexus remembered the U.S. and forgot about Australia.

Actually, I believe they're shipped here without anything on the front and the dealers install them. I was lucky enough to catch my car early enough and inform the dealer not to put anything on because I detest the look of front license plate, although it's the law.

Default Nudge Bar - More pics

Here are some more pics for those who asked. It's probably not a very practical unit but I like the look of it. It was fitted by the Lexus dealer and as far as I know it's a genuine Lexus part. As for the number plate brackets, I have no idea why they are that wide but you can get slim plates for an extra fee.
