Sound upgrade advice for base speakers?
Ok, I didn't get the ML package and I'm not happy with the bass on the base speakers. I don't know, I guess the sound just doesn't sound as crisp as say in my old 2001pathfinder, doesn't that sound kinda pathetic?
What do you all think? Can I really jazz it up for say - under 200 bucks? Or is that wishful thinking? I saw people putting like boxes in the trunk for woofers and that's gonna be a major no no for me. I want everything pretty much normal looking, just better sound if possible. Any ideas?

So you want more bass, but don't want to add a subwoofer? You can get component speakers for the front, and some decent regular speakers for the rear. And they do make those slim subwoofers that goes under the seats, so you still have trunk room.
$200 is a really tight budget, but you can probably buy subpar regular front and rear speakers around that price.

99 RX has sub amp and speaker under front passenger seat. Does 330-350 have it there too?
If I turn up the bass, my doors start vibrating (rattle). Maybe you are looking for improved bass in a narrower frequency spread. Just be aware that your improvement in sound may have undesired side effects.

For the RX330, it has 6x9 components in the front with tweeters on the pillars. The rear doors has 6.5" coaxials.
With $200, I don't think it'll be too much of a difference swapping both speakers, it may be more recommended to just spend the $200 on the front components, which would include the price of labor.

I don't mind a subwoofer, just dont want a large woofer box in the trunk. Maybe something hidden away. Even though I don't like my g35 so much, it does have a woofer in the top middle of the rear seat.
So you guys think just swapping out the front speakers will do it? Let me suggest that to my installation guy and see what they recommend. Once you get used to that bass sound, you really miss it when it's not there, at least I do.

You know, if you look at the RX400, they have a giant set of batteries sitting underneath the rear passenger seats. What is under there in an RX350? Open space? Would be a great place to put an amplifier and subwoofer. How do you get those seats up?
