LED Tail-lights
Can i change the taillights in my RX 350 to the LED taillights of the RX400h? I like the look of LED much better than without them.

It don't think anyone has tried it yet, but I think with some modification to the wiring it could be possible. Physically they should bolt right in. Your RX330/350 does have LED tail and brake lights though. I've confirmed this by taking it apart, and confirmed the tail lights also light up the LED and not just the brake lights. That is for the outer lights though not the inners.

yes, ive done it...found lights on ebay..they fit exactlyt although the harness for the 400h is different to the 330/350. basically u havbe to do a manmual connection but they look great as no ohter 350 will have that LOOK...

From what I can tell, the connectors on the harness are identical, although the RX400h assemblies have four wires while the gasoline model have only three. I tried installing one of the outer assemblies this evening and when the headlights are turned on, the RX400h tails illuminate but do not 'brighten' when stepping on the brakes.
Any help or guidance is appreciated, thank you!

Are the new tail light's connectors identical on the RX400h compared to the 350? If so, maybe there is an empty pin on the light's wiring harness that must be tapped into, due to it being absent or being in a different position (therefore explaining the "manual connection"?). Based on your symptoms listed, your "brake running light wire" is receiving power, but the actual "brake ON" wire is not. A year ago, I converted my old Highlander's incandescent tail lights to LED ones from the 2006-2007 Hybrid models and wrote a DIY on it. Now, not to say that the Highlander's setup is the same as the RX, but the Highlander Hybrid is more of an RX400h than it ever was a Highlander. Due to it being a mechanical twin, it wouldn't be unreasonable to think that the wiring is very similar to that of an RX400h or even a regular 2nd gen RX.

Some pictures of the back of all of the lights would help out. If you get really stuck, a cheap multi-meter would serve you extremely well. It could tell you where each wire/pin in your car's tail light harness is sending power to. I had my brother jump in the driver's seat and use the turn signals, reverse lights, brake lights and turn the headlights on and off to find what each dedicated pin does with my meter. Then, being able to apply 12v of power to the new tail light's pins using a battery would show you what each pin in the tail light does. After gathering that data, you could compare the car's wiring to the tail light's to determine why the brake ON function is not working on your new tail lights.
Best of luck and feel free to send me any questions! I'll try my best to help

Yes, the connectors are identical, albeit the wiring is slightly different (four wires/pins on the 400h vs. three on the non-hybrid, and IIRC there's some variation with the wires' coloring scheme as well). I'll post photos of the taillight assemblies when I return home this evening, I'm glad to hear this is doable albeit with some minor wiring modifications. I'm not much of a solderer but I do have experience with crimping after transferring SRS sensors between a pair of E36 seats last year.
Thanks again for your input, will circle back with photos!

Hi FinLIFE,
I realize it's been a while since you posted your response to having LED tail lights on your RX350 but can you share how you made the conversion? I have an 08' RX350 as well and would like to do the same since the 400h tail lights look so much better. I appreciate any help you can provide.
Thanks so much!

I just got a 2008 RX and I’ll be doing this swap as soon as I find some RX400h tail lights. For the most part, the connectors are the same, except they’re different for the inner and outer side marker lights as they’ve changed from a incandescent bulb to an LED.
Will post full DIY when I get them. If anyone wants to trade their RX400h taillights for RX330/350 - let me know 😂
