The multipin connector on the bottom of the IPOD has both audio outputs and a DC charge input. You could make up a single cable that would work with the aux input unit AND charge at the same time.

Such as this thing. Gets dc from a cig outlet, and has a 3.5 mm audio output connector at the end.

I have the standard internal 6cd changer head unit (Type-B) - no nav no Mark Levinson. It's a 2004.

Here's a link to the Dice unit:

That will work, but the sound quality is notoriously bad on the fm transmitter units.

That is obviously NOT an fm transmitter. It has a coax output (which means a cable connection).

I think it is by reading this definision in the description

lets you play your iPod through your car stereo or other audio equipment when using a Belkin TuneCast Mobile FM Transmitteror Cassette Adapter.

That is good to know the indash CD changer headunit actually has an external CD changer port. When I removed mine I never bothered to look

What Belkin is inarticulately trying to say is this: Here is a cable that can be plugged into the cig. lighter to DC power your Ipod. In addition, there is a tiny coaxial connector in the cig. lighter plug that has the left and right audio outputs, amplified. If you wish, you can hook up an FM modulator to this coaxial connector to wirelessly transmit to your FM receiver, OR you can use a hardwired connection between the Cig. plug and your aux. input".

I should have been in marketing!

No, not an FM transmitter itself, but it's either use a transmitter or use a cassette adapter since we don't have a factory aux input. I didn't like either choice.

So far it works as advertised. The unit on ebay seems to have even more features and you can choose either ipod integration or just an aux input for a reasonable price. That looks like it might be a good option for drray to try. Should be able to return it if it doesn't work right.

Both the Dice unit and the one on E-Bay say they are NOT supported on the 2007 RX 350. I believe that is the car that drray has.

When you say it works is that on the 07 350? I'm asking because I drive the 350 as well.

Thanks,
Dave

Question

How different is the RX 350 sound system from the ones on the IS350 or ES350 that come with the aux ports?

If the basic units are exactly the same (and I can't imagine why they would design one that different for this one model), it is possible that the unit itself supports a standard aux port, but Lexus for some reason decided they had no room to run a wire from the unit to either the dash or storage box. (or some other wierd marketing decision as to why they crippled it).

If that is true, it should not be a big deal to run that wire! Anybody know???

Tha is an interesting point! I would be willing to research it a little if anyone knew the part number and manufacturer of the radio itself.
