Is Lexus dealership different from others? .... Premium price for superior service. One should expect Lexus to be the most priciest of all Japanese origion car companies and in line with European car dealership.

That would be good if you always get superior service. However, it really is just another dealership and varies greatly. Where I'm from, all the top luxury brands are about equal in terms of dealer service from Acura all the way to Infiniti and beyond Seriously though, Lexus, Acura, BMW, have been pretty equal for me in terms of service quality. In fact, the local Acura dealer has a better waiting room and showroom than the Lexus dealer.

Thumbs up

In line or whatever the market allows, sounds like a CEO speaking. Who sets the line or market value, your right All the dealerships.I'm sure that the pay scale for the workers are not 3 or 4 times the pay for the independent garages...I can get a 15k 30k and 60k or even some offer warrenty work for 1/3 the cost of what the dealer charges with a written guarentee and be protected by the Magnuson-Moss act. Don't get me wrong, because I think Lexus is a fine car, but not as fine as some dealers think that they are..they all use gasoline, rubber tires, oil, grease, etc.just some are assembled a little better than others..

Well said!

I am pointing out that there are tiers of busines. Walmart, Target, kMart; then Sears, JC Penny; Saks, Nieman Markus.

Take food as another example ... McDonalds, Burger King etc; TGIF, Chilies; Four Seasons etc. All offer food and we know what happens to it.

Seriously, in our free market things do self regulate. It is the exclusivity that drives up the premium. When I opted for Lexus (knowing fully well it is a Toyota) the exclusivity was part of it. To reduce the repeated increased service cost, I indulge in DIY.
