We went with the Michelin Energy MXV4. Made several trips over mountain passes this last winter, many in less than ideal conditions, and the Michelins served very well.

Cool, what retailer did you get them from? For some reason they use good rubber in Japan, I am pretty sure they import them from a 3rd world country.

When is time for me to replace my tires...I was thinking of going with the
Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza 600 Treadwear.

Anyone has any experience with these??

Default 2005 RX330 AWD OEM Michelin Tires

We got 36K on the first set and 37K on the second set of Michelin's. I just couldn't stand paying that kind of $$$ and not having a mileage warranty.

This time, I put on the Alenza's and couldn't be more pleased.

They look a bit more aggressive from the sidewall and I do think the Michelin's handle pot holes a bit better, but other than that, they have been great (we only have about 2,000 miles on them at the current time). We had one snow storm in Colorado and the traction was excellent.

I got them from Discount Tire after they matched a Firestone offer of buy 3, get 1 free ... At Discount Tire, with certificates, I was out the door for $701.

Well, we are at 30500 on our '05 with Michelins. Pleanty of tread left so I will wag that we will get at least another 5000 and maybe a bit more. My wife is a 55 year old granny (shhh, don't tell her I said this ) and she drives like a 70 year old. She will no doubt come closer to 40000 than 35000. I keep close watch on brake pads, tires, etc since my wife hauls my two grandkids around. Fwiw, I checked the original brake pads and have at least 3/8" left on them.

We have the 18" tires on our RX330, I didn't see an option from Nitto in that size.

We only had 3 choices; the Goodyear, the Michelin and the Bridgestone Alenza. The Alenza has a 65,000 mile warranty.

I had already read where the Goodyear's weren't wearing well, I know from personal experience the Michelin's don't wear very well, so the choice was very clear for me.

I got just over 40K out of my 235-55VR18 Michelins. By that time I was down to 3/32 of tread left. Had I not had a long trip planned I might have tried to stretch a few more miles out of them as on dry pavement they were just fine for the local roads here in FL and we were in the dry season. However, I did change over to the Alenzas before the trip and was glad I did when I hit 6" of snow in PA along the way.

One note. I had the 17" stock rims and our RX was FWD not AWD.

i have the stock 18"s however i went up a tire size to 255/55/18. unless nitto changed something they dont make it in the stock tire size which is 235/55/18. if you want to keep that same stock tire size but want better perfomance out of them i know yokohama makes advan St's in that size. which is the tire i would have went with.

Default tire mileage

In mileage comparisons, remember to factor in:
1. Region travelled- midwest will give more mileage due to flat terrain vs. Colorado with more mountains
2. if vehicle is FWD (only) or AWD
3. PSI kept in tires
4. type of driver (aggressive, local or long distamce driving)
5. Towing trailers

All of these points, and even just a few of them will reduce mileage on any tire manufacturer.
