Yeah. I always use Shell's V-Power simply for the additional detergents. It's 98 RON here in Oz but I can't say that there is a boost in power. The cost difference is minimal ( an Espresso coffee a week costs more than the extra I spend on premium fuel). I have always taken the view that there is no point having an expensive vehicle and being cheap on either servicing or fuel. To each his own I suppose.

I've noticed that if I burn 87 octane in my 04 RX330 the car smells of sulfur. If I burn 89 or 92 octane it doesn't. I notice a performance improvement with premium and since it only adds $2 or $3 to a tankful I burn premium. My manual recommends;
Select Octane Rating 87 (Research Octane Number 91) or
higher. For improved vehicle performance, the use of
premium unleaded gasoline with an Octane Rating 91
(Research Octane Number 96) or higher is recommended.

...and, by the time the 87 octane clogs my fuel-injectors to the point of noticiable impact (if, in fact, they really do), I would have traded the car in already.

Speaking of 87 octane and clogging your fuel injectors, what are the thoughts on the fuel-injector cleaners? I'm referring to the liquid stuff in a bottle that you pour in your tank (e.g. STP?)
In other words, if I use this "dirty" octane (as many like to think of it), why can't I pour a bottle of that cleaner in on every other fill-up?
