When starting our 04 RX 330 with the a/c on the belts squeal briefly. I have been searching on how on to tighten the serpentine belt but have not found any newbie instructions on the "procedure". Could you outline what to do?

Also is there a preferred manual for the RX 330, maybe a place I could down load it from. Thank you in advance.

 

I thought that when those types of belts start to squeal, it means that they are wearing down and are slick. If so, then tightening it will just make it wear faster. Why not just replace the belt and not gamble with breaking down in the middle of nowhere?

As far as repair manuals, I don't think there are downloadable versions available. Some please correct me if I am wrong.

300 uses two belts; and the adjustment for tension is on the alternator and the power stearing pump. Tension can be measured by a gauge or delection at the center.


Serpentine on Lexus engine have an idler, whose task is to provide tension. (no adjustment needed.}

Worshop manuals can be purchased through Lexus parts. Toyota has a site , where you can pay and use their library.

There are 3 Volumes, all together, $600.00. Doubt that you will use all 3 volumes, but I do not know which volume carries what. Do a search on the net and you will find them. Some Lexus internet places sell them for a discount, not much, but at least discounted.
