The eManage of course exists over here and I have read about, though have not gone into to much detail a V-manage for VV-ti. A lot of CL members run eManage, specifically those in the GS, IS and SC subforums. However, keep in mind no matter how much you tune those things, Toyota/Lexus ECUs are very stubborn. I experience this situation even with the really generic naturally aspirated stuff you see on my car domain page, and is a major reason I reset the ECU before I go to the 1/4 mile track every weekend (I want to go tonight, but this is the rainy season).

With the eManage, the key is getting someone who knows how to tune them well. Even I would need someone to correctly work everything out at it is a fine art to learn. Actually some of the best tuners on the 3MZFE engine group are none other than the fine members over at www.solaraguy.org in the 2.5 generation.

There are several of the modifications on my RX300 that are applicable to the RX330/RX350/RX400h, but I'll let you guess what they are.

A lot of interesting reading/complaining here. Besides tranny shifting & acceleration delays I am also blessed with squeeky doors & windows, Winter dash rattles, moonroof rattle, frost forming on inside of side rear window frame, and more. Have had this car since '06 and hate it. Will unload it when the auto mftrs intro their '08 models. Leaning towards an Audi. Will either lease or trade every 36 mo.(end of warranty) or go back to buying ex-Police cars.

you should read my posts, my RX has had 5 times as many problems as my gf's accord which is the same year as the rx330 i have

i guess but then again almost all the rx330-350's have that tranny problem which is a big big issue

The Tranny shifting issues continued thru the 06's (3 years of bad shifts). The 07 and 08's are better.

hahahah until youve driven an 07-08 rx, then you'll realize that the problem is there as well. the engine might have changed but the tranny is still the same.

You got me on that one. One day, I will have a loaner and I will be working overtime dissecting the sucker, if I am give an 08.

Yes 2004 and newer RX are controlled via ETC (Electronic Throttle Control) aka drive by wire.

That is correct. VSC is standard on the RX330/350.

For anyone experiencing delays, hesitation, or gear hunting, don't have your dealer just provide you with a firmware update. I had similar issues with my tranny did the following:

Have them totaly reset "flash" your tranny's electronic management system. What this does is similar to clearing your hard drive and doing a fresh OS install on your PC. Once this procedure is done (which takes about 45 minutes) your tranny will be in the state it was when you first bought the car and pulled it off the showroom. Your tranny's EMS system learns your driving characteristics and adjusts accordingly. After your tranny is "flashed" drive it carefully, don't accelarate and brake too hard for the next couple of days just drive naturally. Oh and don't have anyone else drive your car for any extended period of time, you will confuse the tranny and may experience the tranny issues again. If you do tend to drive more spirited do it progressively which will allow your tranny's learning curve to be much quicker. This seemed to solve my issues with delays and gear hunting.

that doesnt solve the problem at least not completely. the last time i brought the car in the dealer admitted that the update might actually make it worse. they admitted this after i prodded them.

Yes, I've heard for some its been a hit and miss with the firmware update but thats why I recommend the flashing of the computer completely. Its worked for me, plus its worth a shot to start from scratch rather then trying to fix the issues that are already recorded in the system.

Think about it... if its "just the way the tranny shifts" you would have noticed these problems from day 1 - immediately driven off the lot (if thats the case I would have taken back that same day). It may have something to do with the way the tranny is learning our driving habits. The Tech even asked me if my wife drives the car cause he said this could confuse the learning system as well. Wish the RX had a drivers memory button similar to the seat memory botton. Good luck!
