not a repost, great find. I love this show, though i cant understand it. THey've done a lot of "battles".
why does the RX start in the way back...
edit: i think i figured it out. It was based on the horses of each car. I guess the ultimate test is to see if the Porche can catch up to the rest, starting way way back. I guess the 400h was the second fastest car

Nice find! More than just the usual 1/4-mile sprint, this video reveals a number of differences in the vehicles . . .
The sole truck-based SUV (Mitsu?) made pretty decent power, but was killed by its brakes. Once they heated up, it was all over - it became a rolling roadblock.
The Mazda and the CR-V each gave a surprisingly good account of themselves - especially for mid-priced grocery getters.
The 400h did very well, despite not being able to take much advantage of the extra ponies of the electrics. It also seemed to try to hike up the right rear under heavy cornering loads - a fact probably not helped by the location of all those batteries.
The Porsche was the class of the field - as it should be at its performance/price level. It might have done even better were it not for some occasionally rather ham-fisted piloting.

I tried to do exactly this on the famed Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez at a track day that was held in 2005, but they would not permit my type of vehicle on the track during such an event. Even a Cayenne turbo was given a thumbs down. The guy with the Cayenne remarked to me, "well we always have lawless Mexican expressways to race on".
