Keeping a handy battery charger is a good idea. I might shop for 1, been thinking about it for years. Reasonably priced, $50 at Costco or BJ's or Sam's.

I keep one of those jump-start batteries in the trunk most of the time. That way I can give myself a jump when it is 1 AM and the snow is whipping thru the parking lot. Also, if I feel like a good samaritan, I can jump someone elses car without catching some electrical disease in the RX!

If you buy one, the heavier the battery weight, the better! Some have very small batteries and are a joke. And keep it charged so it does not freeze.

.
This is a Lexus Personalized Setting that can only be changed by your dealer. Usually free when you take delivery, but then they charge you to do it again.

I agree. I too have those jump start packs. You can usually do a couple of jumps before you need a recharge. There usually is a voltage meter on there anywhy where can can see if the jumper pack is charged. Anyway, jumper cables are good only if someone is there to give you a hand and they can position the cars in a way where the cables actually reach. The jumper packs are portable and you can do it by yourself.

As to the question if anyone left their car for week and had a dead battery. While every car is different, most cars should last a week no problem, but I did have one car that had a fairly high idle amperage drain and if you didn't drive the car for a little over a week the battery would be very low or dead. I think the RX should have lasted at least 2+ weeks though.

Fortunately, in our neck of the woods, we do not see freezing temps much. Sunny, humid ATL! Now, running full blown A/C all the time is the cruncher!
