Default ran over a ladder on the highway

well comin home from work & i had my wife's rx 330 (05) and a pickup lost his ladder from the back. several cars swerved to miss the ladder but i caught it on the passenger sideand rear tire. I thought the tire was gonna go flat but it was ok however i really damaged some sort of cable running along side of the exaust pipe/muffler any know what hose this is?? its not leaking and my wife has the camera so i cant post a pic. Is this maybe the fuel line??

Probably would have to see a photo as I can see in my mind brake lines on one side, some lines back to the charcoal cannister on the other, evap lines, etc.

oh definetly thats the first i did after checking the tires i think i got away lucky a bmw mashed his front and blew a tire. I got away lucky the ladder must have slid under after the front tire and then went up under the passenger side; i was surprised this morning that the exhst and muffler were not damaged at all. My wife drove me in today to work with my lx so i am in the dog house for a while. Im going to take it to the dealership tomorw; i was just trying to see what type of damage to my wallet is next. I true the rx about 4 to 5 miles after the incident so i hope i did not do any more damage. It stated up fine this morning but i did not drive it. sorry no pics i was running late for work will post tonight when i get home

Glad you're all ok, hopefully the owner of the ladder wrote his name and number on it.

Yeah, we're glad you are fine.

In California, I believe there is a hefty fine/penalty for items flying off that are not secured in a vehicle--that is, if they can catch them.

In Mexico, this is the number 1 reason they will pull someone over. I see at least one of these stops per day along the side of the road.

Good for you and it is good that you did not do something drastic when you saw the ladder....cars can be fixed...much less $$ than human body parts...

If you had your LX, you would not even feel the ladder you just ran over

yes i think if i had my lx nothing would have happened my wife to my lx b/c they went to a party and it fits a lot more people so i had to take the rx to work anyway i happy it was an easy fix. Im still worried about the cable it was chewed up bad but the mechanice said the inner cable was not cut at all. Apparently there is a cable within a cable so no damage. I wunder how much the dealership would have gotten me for if i did take it to them anyway all is good now

See chip, it was your wife's fault after all, make sure she knows that

The LX is much better protected underneath.

There is merit in underbody protection. More cost, but safer, too.
