But $5+ for them to ship it to you.

Worth checking locally for the part.

On the passenger side, remove the black cover that covers the power steering reservoir, locate the device circled here in red. The PCV valve sits below this & a couple of inches towards the firewall & an inch or so towards the driver’s side. You’ll see it threaded into the valve cover & even see some of the threads.

Must replace mine, too! For that amount, why not? I have 47K on the RX.

I keep mine in, now that I have removed the plastic screws, it is as simple as popping it off. 2ndly, it gives a cleaner look with the cover on, just me.

Why do we need to maintain a clean PCV?

Answer:

It is critical that the parts of the PCV system be kept clean and open, otherwise air flow will be insufficient. A plugged or malfunctioning PCV system will eventually damage an engine. PCV problems are primarily due to neglect or poor maintenance, typically engine oil change intervals that are inadequate for the engine's driving conditions. A poorly-maintained engine's PCV system will eventually become contaminated with sludge, causing serious problems. If the engine's lubricating oil is changed with adequate frequency, the PCV system will remain clear practically for the life of the engine. However, since the valve is operating continuously as one operates the vehicle, it will fail over time. Typical maintenance schedules for gasoline engines include PCV valve replacement whenever the air filter or spark plugs are replaced. The long life of the valve despite the harsh operating environment is due to the trace amount of oil droplets suspended in the air that flows through the valve that keep it lubricated.

Not sure about replacing the PCV as often as replacing air filters, however, I concur that it is a good idea to replace when replacing the spark plugs. Still, at $6, NAPA has their brand for that price that compares to the Beck/Arnley, more often is not a budget killer.

When I get to 75K miles in my 2004, I plan on using Sea Foam and after that will replace mine.

I have been hearing about seafoam, how it improves the run. I wonder if some of us 2nd genners have used seafoam.

With the help of you guys, I replaced my PCV Valve, hopefully, I didn't over-tighten it.

The first two times I started the RX after replacing PCV, there was a small pause (delay) in starting, any hint?

Thanks again.

May have just been the position the valve was in at the time. Every time I work on my IACV valve I have a small pause (because the IACV valve is not in the right opening position), but the computer will adjust and all is well in about a second.

You can clean your PCV valve with a spray of throttle body cleaner after you remove it. Just spray inside and shake, repeat till the rattle sounds free then dry it off and reinstall.

Ok a bottle of MAF cleaner, not a ton. Hardly used. Used on my Maxima who has a MAF issue all the time.

Most any type of degreaser will work to clean a PCV valve.
