When you sign up with this program ran by Car and Driver and Pennzoil, they will send you a package that include a rebate for a free synthetic oil change (up to $60) or a free case of oil. It also includes 4 $10 rebates on a case of Pennzoil Platinum oil and 4 rebates of $10 off on a pennzoil platinum oil change. Pennzoil is very fast with their rebates, my last one was here in 2 weeks after mailing it in. Either way, it's free and it doesn't get better than that. For those who think Mobil 1 is superior to Pennzoil, those days are long gone and Mobil is nothing but hype.

How right you are. I get more wear #'s using Mobil 1 and less wear numbers using Pennzoil Yellow bottle. All my iron, aluminum and lead numbers went down nicely with Pennzoil.

I wouldn't touch regular dino Pennzoil nor Mobil 1, but Pennzoil's Platinum...that is a very good oil. Still prefer German Castrol 0W30 that I am using now (but hear the formulation will change) and then I will very likely give Redline 5W20 a try.

moolman, I believe the free 5K service includes the tire roatation as well. I am not sure if the dealership can refuse to just change your oil. They can recommand what you should do, but they cannot demand that you do it. I would call the Lexus HQ and complain about that dealership.

I just called Lexus of Glendale to set up an appointment for an oil change. I was told that they don't do oil changes only and that I would have to do a regular interval service maintainence. I did a search on this forum and found this post.... So I'm guessing that I wasn't getting any BS and that Glendale really doesn't do only oil changes? I guess I'll have to drive all the way out to Westminster to get my oil change (Longo keeps adding new damages to my car everytime I go there)...

I do not believe this crap. My Lexus dealer has 2 bays, solely for quick service such as tires, battery, oil changes, etc.. No appointment necessary. These are located outside the service area. I guess dealerships are to each his own.

One of you guys should call up Lexus HQ and complain about this practice before it become wide spread. Lexus is very high on customer service, if all I want is a oil change, that what I should get.

Toyota here has two separate lines, one for those with appointments and one for those without and additionally I remember a third line for a 30 minute service (seemed like oil change and perhaps brakes and a few other things).

That's the norm I think, nowadays, so when I hear that they do not offer oil changes...cos!
