Default need toyoto oil filter part number for

06 RX330. Why does Lexus show both a canister and a cartridge oil filter for the 06 RX? I assumed I had a cartridge but now I don't know. And, if it is a cartridge type filter where is it located?

90915-yzzd1 canister oil filter. I have a es330(same engine) but I use the yzzd3 oil filter which is just a little longer. More filter media so maybe better filtration....

Let me go out on a limb (not the first time ) and suggest that if your filter is in the same place as that of my '05 330, it is behind the exhaust manifold. It is cleverly concealed by those engineers from Toyota. I change my filter by feel, putting one of those oil filter removal "caps" with the 3/8" socket end on it. I then attach the 3/8" ratchet and take it off. Installation, like removal, is done by feel. A PITA and I am truly amazed by the engineers who did this. Obviously, this is done with the engine quite cooled off because you WILL get second degree burns unless you are truly nimble.

Fwiw, I am an accomplished shade tree mechanic and I spent an hour looking for the filter on my first change. Finally go on this list and someone pointed out its location.

RX330 will have the regular oil filter as stated above.

RX350 has a new engine that requires the canister type.
