Default (RX 330 AWD) Limited slip vs. Viscous Limited Slip (RX350 AWD)

I was just wondering if someone could possibly tell me what the difference is between these two setups. I know that the '04-'05 RX 330 AWD's used a limited slip diff, and the '06-'08 350s use a Viscous limited slip.

Also, does the AWD help eliminate the torque steer on this car? I am currently driving an FWD model and I feel like I burn out non stop. There is so much power that even the slightest throttle input will elicit a screech from the front end. I would burn through tires in like 5,000 miles like this!

I am perhaps considering getting one of these in a few months and am thinking that it would have to be an AWD as I couldn't live with the torque steer, but just want to know if the AWD even helps. And then if it does, what is the difference between the 04-05 limited slip, and the 06+ Viscous limited slip.

Thanks for the link! For those of you have driven the AWD vs FWD, is there a noticeable difference in torque steer? Do those with AWD feel the torque steer?

ive never driven the FWD RX but the AWD that i own does not have any torque steer what so ever even when i floor it. I do however have a sienna with the same engine, and that does have torque steer.

i agree w/ RXSF - i have an 04 AWD and have never had torque steer either. i have over 60k miles and don't baby it and drive it pretty hard sometimes and never a squeal or peep from the front end.

the car actually needs to have power to torque steer. ive driven both a fwd and awd and they feel exactly the same.

Well I'm driving an '08 RX 350 FWD and from a stand still, the thing will torque steer you into the next lane if you aren't careful. If you want to floor it, you sure as hell better have a grip on the steering wheel.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeee haw

thats the funniest thing ive heard from you. Youve made my day

there is some truth to that statement though. We all know that stomping on the pedal will result in about a 2 second time delay. Perhaps that hesitation prevents sudden starts, thus no wheel spin.

AWD will reduce torque steer, Toyota has the same issue with the RAV4 V6, which has the same engine. MPLEXUS, in your case, the torque steer sounds too severe, there may be some other issues involved.

well there are other factors such as tranny shifting patterns, etc but if the car is fwd and doesnt have a whole lot of power it wont torque steer or not very much.
