2009 Rx

Of course it won't look like an FX; it shouldn't seeing as that is an Infiniti.
The next RX will obviously look like a Lexus, but with more L-Finesse styling adding for a more sleek, sporty profile. The interior will definitely be top-notch and quality-wise it will be above the FX.

It is indeed above the FX now, but the quality gap will likely grow even more with the new RX, and the gap should remain even after the next-gen FX comes out.
The FX definitely can't be matched for power right now, but we still don't know if the V8 rumours for the RX are true or not.

If power was the only deciding factor, yes the FX is a better SUV. When I shop for a SUV, there are prabably 7 or 8 important factors I look at, power being one of them. Beside power and handling, the RX top the FX in every catagory. Even the new MDX rated higher in my book than the FX.

I could probably upgrade the power in the existing or new RX (though would take more work than it did with my RX300). MDX is a very nice vehicle but that front is scary looking, kind of like a cowcatcher on wheels.

FX I don't think is that bad, beats a Jeep in design. CX7 and CX9 aren't bad, but the CX7 is SLOW (I beat one soundly the other week in the 1/4 mile). Subaru SUVs are getting a little better in design this year, but last design scheme left something to be desired. What saddens me is actually the design of the new WRX.

The ugly Sub was called the B9 Tribecca. This year they restyled it and dropped the B9. Original design was right up there with the Aztec! In the category of "what were they thinking!".
The FX was seemingly designed for the ultimate testosterone set (not us calm, confident Lexus types). Looks like a male appendage on wheels. Like the exhaust sound, though.
