We have a RX350 (2008) and need to install a dog barrier behind the second row. Does anyone have any suggestions that have proven to be effective (and don't say a crate, as that is not an option).
Thanks in advance,
Larry

We saw some sturdy ones at Petco last week that seemed like they would work. It looked something like this

A more substantial barrier might be this - for a bit more money.

You might want to drape a blanket or something over the rear seatback to keep your pooch from clawing the top of the back seat. Our pup is not a big fan of travel, but she tolerates it fairly well, strapped in her canvas carrier on the backseat. This carrier has an internal aluminum frame that keeps it rigid even with your pet inside when you pick it up.

Although our dog is a small Maltese, she likes a larger carrier where she feels secure without being cramped. Her quarters are slightly larger than the one pictured. She has a large beach blanket inside she can dig up to a configuration that suits her, and the carrier has pockets for treats, water bottle, collar and leash. The carrier also has dark mesh panels that provide privacy and shade while allowing her to see out, even when snoozing underway.
While she doesn't think much of traveling in any configuration, she often sleeps in her carrier as a "vacation home" placed on a blanket on the den sofa, a few feet away from her "house" made of a big soft pillow in a large blanket storage bin draped with an afghan. Being territorial, she frets if you mess with either of her "properties", even to change the "linens".

I went to Petco and grabbed some "bars". They fit in there well and will hold my brood. It isn't a permanent installation and it fits better than the mesh screen.
Thanks again,
Larry
