Hey Everyone!! After only 16500 miles I had to replace the Goodyear tires that came on the RX350. The center tread on these tires was almost slick although the rest of the treads were okay. Since we are making a trip to DC. I decided to put Michelins on and love the new improved ride. Question is, Since installing the new tires on my RX350, the tire pressure monitor light stays on and won't go off. The tire dealer said it should go off after a few miles but 200 miles later its still on. I tried holding the TPM switch thats under the glove box down for 30 seconds but it didn't change anything. I feel certain my tire dealer installed the new tires and the monitors correctly so I don't think thats the issue. How do you get that light to go off. Can I reset the light somehow? Any advice would help since we are leaving for DC in the morning. Thanks.....

Wow, all you got from teh Good year is 16500 miles, thats not good.
As far as the TPMS, I assume you already check the tire pressure on all the tires including the spare. At this point, I would say it is likely that your tire installer damage on of the sensors.

Sounds like the tires were overinflated, a lot! The ceter of the tread is gone with the edges bearing tread. Too bad the pressure monitors don't signal an overinflated state.

thanks and please keep the info coming. I'm taking the laptop with us so I'll be checking the boards. I didn't have time to explain this morning but apparantly the Goodyears had a design flaw with the center of the tire. I could have gone another 7 to 10K because the rest of the tire was in pretty good shape. My tire dealer said it was not because of over-inflating or mis-alignment. Since he is a dealer for Goodyear, I got a pretty fair deal on the replacements. As you know, Lexus doesn't warranty the tires and you have to go to the authorized dealer with any issues. I took my Lexus to my tire dealer right after I bought it and since he is also my neighbor and a good friend,he had told me about the problem with the Goodyears and promised to help me out. And since the whole family of 4 plus the dog are going to DC,we decided to go ahead and make the change. Now, after saying all that,I'm sure my wife and (sometimes me) are guilty of hot ******* and playing a little with all the 270 horsepower at times. Sad huh? A 48 year old man racing his SUV. But: IT SURE WAS FUN!!!
